On Friday, April 23rd & Saturday, April 24th, 2004, the Specialty Tea Institute will hold the 7th Annual Specialty Tea Institute Symposium at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.

The STI Symposium is fast becoming the top specialty tea event in the country, and over 150 tea professionals are expected to join us this year. The STI Symposium is held in conjunction with the Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA) 16th Annual Conference and Exhibition. Building on the "standing-room-only" success of the 2003 Symposium in Boston, the 2004 line-up offers intensive training, educational seminars and business sessions led by Tea Industry experts. Excellent learning opportunities abound for tea novices and experts alike. Importers, buyers, growers, retailers, current and future tea salon owners and others will experience a focused two-day tea program that offers concrete steps to help boost your tea knowledge and sales. Our delegate roster will also include editors and correspondents from leading international trade publications. Classes and seminars will fill up fast! As STI President Joe Simrany says, "We urge everyone eager to learn how to market and profit from fine tea to sign up for this instructive gathering. If you're in specialty tea, you can't afford not to be there."

Friday’s program includes eight wide-ranging seminars covering topics such as The Merchandising of Specialty Tea: Both In-store and on the Web, where a panel of tea experts will focus on actually “making the sale.” New Trends in Tea & in the Tea Consumer, and Developing & Marketing a Specialty Iced Tea Program, as well as Tea 101: The Basics of Specialty & Premium Tea, are among the many other sessions offered. Rounding out Friday’s agenda is a fascinating “Luncheon Keynote” discussion of Green Tea & White Tea: The Truth, the Hype, and Everything in Between that dives into green and white tea categories and comparisons. Lifelong tea merchants Mike Spillane and Thomas Shu bring to bear their combined expertise, experience, and insights to get at the unvarnished truth on this hottest of tea world topics. Saturday’s schedule features 3 hands-on training seminars focusing on Sensory Evaluation of Tea, and Advanced Tea Tasting: Teas From Darjeeling India, followed by an in-depth, 2-part look at The Mechanics of Iced Tea.

The Symposium also offers great opportunities to network and unwind during tea breaks, the Group Luncheon and an elegant “MarTeani” Farewell Reception.
