Specialty Tea Institute Sponsors Tea Breaks at TEXSOM
The ninth-annual Texas Sommelier Conference was held this week (August 10 – 12) at the Four Seasons Resort & Club in Los Colinas, Texas. The Specialty Tea Institute (STI), the premier educator and promoter of specialty tea and the first to offer the title of STI Certified Tea Specialist to its successful students, was pleased to sponsor the Tea Breaks as well as being an Educational Partner for this wonderful event.
Co-Founded by Drew Hendricks, MS CWE and James Tidwell, MS CWE, the Texas Sommelier Conference is guided by four goals:
To develop sommelier and other wine professionals through seminars, tastings and professional standards examinations
To outline a path for further educational opportunities for both sommelier and the general public
To enhance relationships within the industry by providing a forum for discussion of relevant issues
To educate the media and general public regarding the standards and certifications for wine professionals
This is one of the largest Sommelier conferences and has become one of the premier education events for sommeliers and other industry professionals in the United States.
A natural fit for STI, our sponsorship was welcomed by organizers and participants alike who were able to refresh their palates with teas provided by The Cultured Cup, a company owned and operated by STI Certified Tea Specialist Kyle Stewart and Phil Krampetz. They were ably assisted by Marzi Pecen, STI Certified Tea Specialist and Melanie Wisniewski, from Upsolves, a consulting firm.
